EMDR

EMDR is a relatively new approach used to decrease the impact of disturbing memories or negative beliefs about oneself. Although the client is wide awake and totally aware, the process of EMDR on the brain appears to be similar to what occurs naturally during dreaming. The Theratapper is a useful tool to produce the bilateral stimulation which activates the dream-like process. A hand held pod produces a gentle jiggle which alternates between hands. Corena Harris, LCSW, has received advanced training and has been certified as an EMDR therapist.
